Areas of Practice

ADOPTIONS

Adoptions: Since 1997, I have represented hundreds of families in Intrafamily and Agency Adoptions, the latter in association with the Louisiana Department of Children & Family Services (DCFS).

Adopting a child is usually an event to celebrate, but it does require specific legal steps in each case. I will ensure that you understand the steps and will be your legal advocate throughout the adoption process.

DWI

DWI: If you have been arrested for drunk driving you need an attorney who is knowledgeable in the DWI and Implied Consent laws..

Potential penalties can be very onerous. Anyone who is subject to the provisions of these laws should act quickly to seek and obtain competent legal counsel.

During my legal career, I have represented hundreds of clients accused of drunk driving (DWI) in Louisiana. Call me to evaluate your DWI case now.

LICENSE SUSPENSION

Driver’s license issues: Almost everyone gets a traffic ticket time from time to time. It’s tempting to think of them as just a nuisance and extra expense in the family budget, but that line of thinking can be costlier than you can imagine.

Minor traffic violations can quickly become a major problem — you need your driver’s license to get to work, and for other necessities of life.

If you have a CDL license, it's crucial that you preserve and protect it, so that you can continue to earn a living.

About Anita McCrossen

Anita McCrossen initially worked as an Office Manager at the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles, where she became knowledgeable in reading driving records, license suspension laws and regulations, and license reinstatement requirements. She was promoted to the job of Administrative Hearing Officer for the Department of Public Safety; and after completing her legal education, she became an Administrative Law Judge for the Louisiana Division of Administrative Law.

For 24 years, Ms. McCrossen’s case load consisted primarily of presiding over “drunk driving”-related administrative hearings. She also received extensive training specific to that area of the law. Since her retirement, she has expanded her private law practice in the metro New Orleans area, primarily handling adoption, DWI and traffic cases.

She also worked for three years with the Orleans Public Defenders Office in Municipal and Traffic Courts. In that capacity, Ms. McCrossen represented criminal misdemeanor clients, including a large number of DWI defendants. Since 1997, Ms. McCrossen has represented numerous clients in both Agency and Intrafamily adoptions. Over the past 18 years, she has been a presenter in numerous Continuing Legal Education courses related to DWI defense. She also taught Administrative Law and Constitutional Law for the Concordia University Criminal Justice program from 1998-2002.

After having received a Bachelor of Criminal Justice from Loyola University City College in 1993, Ms. McCrossen attended Loyola University School of Law and obtained her J.D. in 1996. She also received post-graduate training at the National Judicial College in Reno, Nevada.
